Familiar with Design Sprints? Here at Arup, we’ve adopted a GV-style 5 day Design Sprint to test and validate new ideas. Combining our built environment domain expertise with our digital expertise, we make innovative, challenging, and complex data-driven concepts tangible.

Check out our Design Sprint video below (and here).

Monday Mapping: Exploring how Arup specialists and clients interact with climate change data

Each of the five days has a specific focus:
Monday: we decide on a long-term goal and interview five domain experts to better understand the problem area.
Tuesday: we employ a structured approach to involve the entire team in generating ideas and sketching solutions.
Wednesday: we decide on a solution to take forward and test.
Thursday: the whole team contributes to building the prototype.
Friday: we test the prototype with users and observe reactions from another room.

By the end of the week, the team has a common understanding of the problem, a validated (or invalidated) prototype, and evidence supporting the desirability of such tool.

Design Sprints are a new service we are able to offer to both internal and external clients to test and validate new ideas. Contact us if you have an idea you’d like to explore through an Arup Design Sprint.
